Iaido

The Japanese word 居合道 is used in English as "Iaido" and refers to the art of quickly drawing the sword. The word is composed of the kanji 居 (read i) meaning "exist, be present", 合 (read ai) meaning "fit; join; suit; meet" and 道 (read dou) meaning "teachings, the way". Together these characters are meant to represent "the way of mental presence and immediate reaction".
