Let There Be Light

光あれ (hikari are)

The Japanese phrase 光あれ meaning "Let There Be Light" is composed of the word (read hikari) meaning "light" and あれ the imperative form of the verb ある (read aru) meaning "to be; to exist". Hence God is commanding light to exist!
